What installing involves

You can read this before signing up — it is the part people most want to know in advance.

Straight up: installing this is more of a faff than it should be.
Your phone or PC will warn you about the file, more than once, and the warnings look worse than they are. That is because we are new and not yet a registered publisher — not because of anything in the download. The app stores fix this and we will be in them; until then it is a couple of extra clicks and a bit of nerve.

You do it once. After that the game updates itself — when a bug is fixed, an UPDATE card appears in your office and it installs the new build on its own. You never come back here and never see those warnings again.

And you do not need any of it to run your club. Squad, transfers, training, set pieces and the books all live on the website, on any device, with nothing installed. The download is for match day, when you take the touchline.

On Android

  1. Your browser warns the file "might be harmful" — the standard warning for any app from outside the Play Store. Tap Download anyway.
  2. Tap Open on the download notification.
  3. First time only, Android asks you to allow install unknown apps — switch it on and press back.
  4. Tap Install, and Install anyway if Play Protect asks.

On Windows

  1. Your browser says the file "isn't commonly downloaded" — that is about how new it is, not what is in it. Choose Keep.
  2. Open 44boots-setup.exe.
  3. Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
  4. It installs into your own user account — no admin password, nothing touched outside your profile.
